Manufacturing Technician

Job Description

• The Manufacturing Technician performs variety of technical support duties within a manufacturing environment. He/she is responsible for building assemblies, performing tests on assemblies or finished products to ensure conformance to product specifications
• Executes routine and non-routine tests, troubleshooting, repair, and quality verification on Agilent instruments with limited technical support.
• Ability to perform complex test/process work requiring an in-depth technical background with limited documentation.
• Provides feedback on defects and/or quality of test to production operators and engineering.
• Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products.
• Assists engineering in developing new processes, test procedures, tools, and prototype fabrication.
• Independently suggests and implements process designs, program modifications, fixtures, and works with manufacturing engineering to implement them.
• Support team members in technical and nontechnical roles to achieve the production line objectives and goals through effective teamwork. This includes providing constructive feedback to peers, maintaining flexibility to change on a daily basis and willing to move to other shifts. Provision of training and related documentation to other manufacturing personnel.

Qualifications

• Diploma or NITEC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Typically 1-3 years of relevant experience for entry to this level.
• Demonstrated ability to apply analytical skills and understanding of the fundamentals involved in the product. (Physics, Chemistry, Electronics)
• Demonstrated technical troubleshooting and "Diagnostic" skills.
• Ability to evaluate instrument parts/components using inspection techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Communicate technical problems to the engineering staff needs, plans, and achievements at different levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand product specification drawings and instructions. Interpret engineering drawings; mechanical, electrical, and block diagrams.
• Demonstrated willingness to take responsibility for resolving problems, and implementing new ideas or solutions.
• Demonstrated use of tools and equipment to assemble small parts & high level of manual dexterity.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and proficiently utilize technical and nontechnical computer applications (e.g. SAP, Chemstation, Access, Excel).
• Demonstrated ability to read, understand and rigorously follow Quality System processes, including interpreting test results, reading graphs, and validating instrument test results.
• Demonstrated ability to adjust rapidly and effectively to change and remain open to new ideas and job assignments
• No known allergies to industrial chemicals used in the work area; may be required to participate in medical training/screening or monitoring programs.
