Overview:
We are looking for dedicated Product Safety Engineers to join our product development team, focusing on high-precision semiconductor manufacturing equipment. In this role, you will ensure that our products meet international safety standards by conducting design reviews, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and managing third-party certification processes. Your expertise will play a key role in mitigating safety risks and supporting the reliability of advanced equipment deployed globally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Compliance & Design Review
- Conduct pre-audit evaluations of product designs to assess compliance with applicable international safety standards (e.g., IEC, UL, CE, SEMI, NFPA, ISO).
- Collaborate with design engineers to embed safety requirements early in the product lifecycle.
- Identify potential hazards and propose practical design solutions to reduce risk.
2. Standards Interpretation & Implementation
- Stay informed on updates to global product safety regulations and standards.
- Translate safety and compliance requirements into clear engineering specifications and testing protocols.
3. Third-Party Audit Coordination
- Act as the key liaison with external certification bodies (e.g., TÜV, UL, CSA).
- Prepare and submit required documentation for audits and facilitate on-site assessments.
- Coordinate resolution of any audit findings to obtain required certifications.
4. Testing & Validation Support
- Support or perform safety-related tests, such as electrical safety checks, fault condition simulations, and hazard assessments.
- Collaborate with test engineers to validate safety-critical systems.
- Review and verify test reports to ensure alignment with safety and certification standards.
5. Risk Assessment & Documentation
- Conduct safety risk assessments (e.g., FMEA, Hazard Analysis) and maintain proper documentation.
- Develop and manage technical files, safety manuals, and compliance reports in accordance with regulatory expectations.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Legal teams to ensure safety is considered throughout the development process.
- Provide safety guidance and awareness training to engineering teams as needed.
Job Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in product safety engineering, ideally in semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
- Track record of contributing to successful compliance certifications (e.g., CE, UL, IEC 60204, SEMI S2/S8).
- Familiarity with standards such as IEC 60204, NFPA 79, and relevant SEMI safety requirements.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical safety principles and hazard mitigation strategies.
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies such as FMEA, HAZOP.
- Working knowledge of CAD/PLM tools (e.g., Solid Edge) for design review is advantageous.
