Senior Data Center Design Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Senior Data Center IT Design Engineer who can independently lead the technical design of data center infrastructure. This role requires a multi-disciplinary background in Electrical, Mechanical, or IT systems, with hands-on experience in designing power, cooling, structured cabling, and IT network systems. The ideal candidate should be self-sufficient and capable of delivering production-ready designs without the need for further training.

Key Responsibilities

-Technical design of data center infrastructure, including:

• Electrical systems: HV/LV distribution, UPS, gensets, PDU planning, earthing
• Mechanical systems: CRAC, precision cooling, containment, airflow planning, HVAC coordination
• Structured cabling systems: Copper and fiber backbone layout, labeling, rack patching plans
• IT infrastructure: Server/network/storage layout, network topology, segregation (MGMT/OOB/Prod)
• Fire protection: Pre-action system, VESDA, NOVEC gas suppression
• Monitoring & Control: BMS, DCIM, SNMP-based environment and power monitoring

-Produce all required design documentation including: SLDs, layout drawings, rack elevations, schematics, cabling schedules, BoQ, and method statements.

-Coordinate with consultants, main contractors, M&E vendors, and end clients throughout the design and implementation lifecycle.

-Ensure compliance with local and international standards (SS 638, SCDF Fire Code, BCA, IMDA, ISO/IEC, TIA-942, ASHRAE).

-Provide technical input for tender specifications, proposal responses, and cost estimation.

-Support site implementation, testing, commissioning (FAT/SAT), and as-built documentation.

-Develop risk assessment and failure mode analysis (FMEA) reports for critical infrastructure designs.

Requirements

-Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Information Technology, or a related field.

-Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in data center design or system integration.

-Familiar with:

• Power systems: UPS, power panels, dual-corded design, fault-tolerant architecture
• Cooling systems: CRAC, chilled water, hot/cold aisle containment, airflow design
• Network & IT infrastructure: structured cabling, server room topology, L2/L3 network design
• Industry standards: TIA-942, ISO/IEC 11801, ASHRAE TC9.9, SS 638

-Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite; Revit or BIM experience is a plus.

-Strong documentation and project coordination skills.

-Able to work independently and deliver designs on time with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

-Certifications such as CDCP/CDCS, CCNA/CCNP, BICSI, LEED AP, Uptime Tier Design

-Data center modeling

-Familiarity with ELV systems (CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm) is an advantage
