Job Summary:
As a Solar PV Engineer at PMCE (Global) Pte. Ltd., you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. You contribute to commercial solar projects, ensuring efficient system integration, cost-effectiveness, and high-performance standards. Your role involved working closely with clients, project managers, and the engineering team to deliver innovative, reliable, and scalable solar energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance checks on PV systems, including modules, inverters, mounting structures, junction boxes, cables, and electrical components
- Perform corrective maintenance when faults are identified – including replacing faulty parts or addressing wiring/inverter issues
- Ensure proper cleaning of solar modules and monitoring for soiling/losses
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Identify and resolve underperformance issues using tools such as IV curve tracers, thermal imaging, and multimeters
- Coordinate with manufacturers for warranty claims and Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) processes
System Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor solar plant performance using platforms like SMA, FusionSolar, Sungrow, and Fronius
- Generate performance and service reports with root cause analysis and improvement recommendations
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, breakdowns, and maintenance logs
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all operations and maintenance activities comply with SS638, EMA, and LEW regulations
- Conduct safety inspections and enforce corrective actions to mitigate hazards
- Participate in the preparation of O&M manuals and close-out documentation
Engineering Calculations & System Optimization:
- Perform power load, voltage drop, and solar efficiency calculations
- Optimize system performance through design refinement and troubleshooting
Project Documentation & Cost Estimation:
- Prepare tender documents including technical specifications, design proposals, and cost estimates
- Support project costing and coordinate with suppliers for timely material delivery
- Assist with risk assessments, material submissions, work statements, and safety documentation
Project Coordination & Management:
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely completion within scope and budget
- Monitor site progress and coordinate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Provide weekly progress updates to stakeholders
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges
- Manage client expectations by proposing solutions and ensuring project objectives are met
- Provide on-site customer support and system usage training
System Integration & Testing:
- Oversee system integration with existing electrical infrastructure, including electrical connections and commissioning
- Assist with testing and commissioning, and troubleshoot issues during the process
Inventory & Tools Management:
- Track tools and spare part inventory and coordinate with procurement teams for restocking
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to improving system design and project processes
- Stay updated with solar technologies and industry best practices
Candidates with experience in authority document submissions (e.g., SCDF, RSAF, SPPG) are preferred.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience in solar design, project execution, and system optimization
- Strong knowledge of solar PV system design, shading analysis, power load calculations, and voltage drop calculations
- Excellent skills in project management, cost estimation, and client communication
- Familiarity with building codes, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance for solar installations
- Testing and commissioning of solar pv system
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
