Technical equipment salesman -$6k to 12k
The opportunity
We are seeking a Technical Equipment Salesman to support our sales and business development efforts across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. You will be supporting the development and execution of end-to-end sales strategies, achieving annual revenue targets, and fostering strong relationships with key clients and partners. This role requires a high-energy, hands-on professional with in-depth industry knowledge, the ability to travel extensively across the region, and a proven track record of closing complex technical sales.
Job description
The Technical Equipment Salesman supports identifying new business opportunities, generating leads, and securing new calibration and testing contracts for the company. He will also focus on securing contracts, managing client portfolios, and providing support to the business development team.
Key responsibilities:
1. Sales development
• Support to identify and approach potential clients within assigned territories or market segments.
• prepare and present comprehensive service proposals and quotations
• respond to tenders and requests for quotations within required time frames
• negotiate contract terms within company guidelines
2. Client relationship management
• conduct site surveys to assess client requirements
• build and maintain positive relationships with prospective and existing clients
• address client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
• collaborate with operations team to ensure smooth completion of contracts
• collect client feedback and communicate to relevant departments
• may require occasional evening work for client meetings
3. Market research & analysis
• monitor market trends and competitor activities
• identify new market opportunities and potential service offerings
• gather intelligence on pricing trends and customer preferences
• contribute to the development of sales strategies and approaches
4. Administrative duties
• maintain accurate records in the company’s system
• prepare weekly and monthly sales activity reports
• document client requirements and contract specifications
• manage sales-related documentation and filing systems
5. Key account management
• personally manage relationships with major clients and key accounts
• develop account growth strategies for existing clients
• oversee contract negotiations for agreements
• resolve complex client issues and ensure service excellence
• coordinate cross-departmental efforts for key accounts
6. Strategic planning & reporting
• contribute to the company's strategic planning process
• provide regular reports to manager or senior management on sales performance
• analyse competitive landscape and provide strategic insights
• represent the company at industry events and networking forums
• 10 - 15 years of experience in sales or business development and/or supporting roles
• experience in sales or business development roles for a mid or managerial role.
• strong understanding of contract terms and negotiation principles
7. Current customer
• Technical Equipment Salesman for 30 - 50 corporate customers ensuring growth in support from our key customers.
• Develop and maintain strategic long-term trusting relationships with key global customers to accomplish growth by providing sustainable solutions.
• focused on sourcing opportunities and driving development plans, converting leads into sales.
• serve as contact point for key customers and internal teams.
• be the first to know about customers’ strategies and development plans so that we can align ourselves to their needs.
• respectfully respond to customer enquiries and resolve complaints in an efficient/effective manner.
• measures, tracks and analyzes key account metrics.
· all round understanding of the market, the global products offer by customer and competitor; and devise a marketing strategy to better position our product offering to the customers.

8. Technical and Quality Knowledge (essential and/or Added Advantage)
· Knowledge in Metrology (Electronic, Electrical, Temperature, Mechanical & Dimensional), Instrumentation, calibrations and Testing.
· Knowledge of Singapore Accreditation requirements and the scope of accreditations.
· Knowledge in Troubleshooting techniques
· Knowledge in preventive maintenance, calibration and testing Process
· Knowledge in Metrology laboratory practices, calibration data collection, and familiarity with national and international standards is also essential.
· Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Ability to analyse complex technical/quality and compliance issues, identify root causes, and implement practical corrective actions.
· Knowledge in Calibration quality management software, document control systems, and data analysis tools. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
· Interpersonal & Leadership Skills: Ability to work with the cross-functional teams, unite staff under the Technical Team, set quality objectives, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Must be able to build consensus and manage conflict diplomatically.
· Ability to work effectively with individuals from varied professional and cultural backgrounds
· Address customer complaints and ensure proper investigation and resolution.
· Communicate quality system updates and compliance status to management and customers
· Work with the technical team to ensure test and certification results are accurate and reliable.
· Manage customer escalations and monitor resolutions to meet expectations.
· Participate in customer meetings to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
Eligibility criteria: (essential qualifications)
· Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with at least 10 to 15 years of experience in a mid or senior sales management and business development role, preferably within a similar industry (calibration and testing services) or above.
· Strong proven track record in sales, strategy and management.
· Familiar with SAC, iso 9001 and iso 17025 calibration quality system requirements and certifications.
· Proven success in business and account development supports
· A proactive and assertive approach with the capacity to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced organisation.
· Strong computer skills, including microsoft software (eg. Powerpoint, words, excel, etc), crm, etc.
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to work under pressure.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and throughput tasks
· Will be expected to be involved in the project at Jurong Island or overseas
· Must possess a driving licence
· Travel – 100% (local & oversea) within the short notice period
· Able to commit to shift hours (6 am to 2 pm), weekends and public holidays.
· Rotational shift- monday to friday or wednesday to sunday.
· No weekend off day
