Job Purpose:
To implement examination procedures and ensure the proper conduct of examination candidates.
To support the Examinations Officer with the day-to-day operation of examination venues.
This may include (but is not limited to):
- understanding any specific regulations relating to the subjects being examined.
- assisting with setting up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with the outlined procedures.
- assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats and advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues.
- ensuring that candidates do not talk once inside the examination venue.
- completing attendance register and seating plan as required.
- notifying candidates of the start and finish times of the exam.
- handing out appropriate question papers to candidates.
- reading out examination instructions.
- invigilating during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates and dealing with examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedures.
- ensuring that candidates do not converse, signal, or otherwise communicate with each other or other persons, record any incidents and report these to the Examinations Officer or other appropriate staff
- escorting candidates from the examination venue during the examinations as required, and supervising candidates whilst outside the examination venue
- supervising candidates leaving examination venues, ensuring that candidates do not remove equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation and ensuring that candidates leave venues in an orderly and quiet manner.
- collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with strict procedures
- assisting with the preparation of script envelopes
- follow any additional rules relating to social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent in chosen subject
- Proficient in MS Office 365 (Teams, Excel and Word)
- Experience of undertaking exam invigilation
- Experience of working in a secondary school or other educational establishment
- Able to commit to the exam dates (see below)
