Global Category Manager

Job Summary:

The GCM is a key role in Global Sourcing organization to develop, plan and implement sourcing strategy for assigned categories. GCM is the overall relationship owner and interface with suppliers. The mission is to continuously drive material cost improvement and material localization projects by following aligned sourcing strategy and company goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Focus person in Quasar Singapore for Sourcing of Direct / Indirect Materials and Services.

• Lead QSG localization and material CI projects with Engineering/Quality/Planning for Assurance of Supply and Cost Saving Initiatives.
• Responsible for site KPI of Cost Saving Initiatives, Purchase Price Variance, Payment Terms and present in site MOR.
• Escalation channels for internal team relating to supply issues.
• Responsible for quoting new products Materials Costing File and work with Finance / PMO to propose new standard cost.

· Draft and negotiate contractual agreements' terms and conditions.

· Responsible for material pricing and cost control; get the necessary approval for price changes and update pricing in ERP.

· Develop and manage strategic relationships with suppliers in one or more specific categories.

• NPI/NPD Sourcing: Work closely with Engineering, PMO and relevant functional teams to support product development efforts, to influence sourcing decisions, lead make vs. buy assessment and recommendation, meet customer expectations, technical capabilities, and program objectives.
• Responsible for Approved Vendor List for assigned categories and custom components managing supplier selection, qualification and contract negotiation.

· Develop assigned category roadmaps aligning program and business requirements with supplier capabilities.

· Maintain professional knowledge of category technology trends including rigorous analysis of industry drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape.

· Ensure supplier readiness and continuity of supply throughout entire product life cycle.

· Other tasks assigned by superior.

· Be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally per business needs. (Up to ~30%)

Education/Experience and Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business Administration related. Master’s degree in Business or Engineering related field is preferred.

· Language: proficient in using English as work language. Bilingual is preferred (such as Chinese and English).

· 7+ years in strategic sourcing experience in manufacturing operations or sourcing environment. Medical device or healthcare industry background will be a strong plus.

· Global sourcing experience - experienced in developing category sourcing strategies, commodity and technology roadmaps. Supply management related professional certification such as CPM/CPSM or equivalent is a strong plus.

· Proficient with analytical skills (i.e. cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier risk management, etc.)

· Category management experience in any of the following category or commodities: Metals/Machining, Extrusion, Plastic Injection, Micro Components, Electronics, etc.
