MANAGING DIRECTOR

Key Responsibilities

1. Business & Operational Management

• Manage and oversee the company’s day-to-day construction operations under the direction of the Board / Directors.

• Support management in implementing business plans, operational strategies, and growth initiatives.

• Ensure construction operations comply with Singapore regulations, including BCA, MOM, and other relevant authorities.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and government agencies as assigned by management.

2. Project Management & Delivery

• Oversee construction projects from tender stage through planning, execution, completion, and handover.

• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, technical, and safety requirements.

• Review construction methods, project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments, and provide recommendations for management approval.

• Resolve major technical, contractual, or site issues escalated by project teams.

3. Construction & Technical Oversight

• Provide technical leadership and guidance on construction methodologies, sequencing, and quality standards.

• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and statutory requirements.

• Monitor site performance, productivity, quality control, and safety management systems.

4. Financial & Commercial Management

• Monitor project costing, budgeting, cash flow planning, and cost control.

• Review variation claims, subcontractor payments, and procurement matters for management review and approval.

• Work closely with finance and commercial teams to support project profitability and cost efficiency.

5. Team & Organisation Management

• Lead and mentor project managers, site managers, engineers, and support teams.

• Establish reporting structures, KPIs, and performance monitoring processes.

• Support the development of a disciplined, accountable, and safety-focused construction team culture.

6. Tendering & Business Development

• Support tender preparation, pricing, risk assessment, and contract negotiations.

• Evaluate project feasibility, resource capacity, and operational risks.

• Maintain and strengthen relationships with clients, consultants, and strategic partners.

Job Requirements

Education & Professional Background

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building, or related disciplines.

• Professional qualifications (e.g. PE, PMP) are an advantage but not mandatory.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the construction or engineering industry.

• Proven experience managing multiple construction projects concurrently.

• Prior experience in a senior project management or construction management role is preferred.

• Familiarity with Singapore’s construction environment, regulations, and industry practices.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of construction processes, contracts, and site operations.

• Good understanding of project lifecycle management, including tendering, execution, and close-out.

• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, manpower, subcontractors, and project risks.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Regulatory Knowledge

• Familiar with BCA requirements, safety regulations, quality standards, and MOM requirements.

• Experience supporting statutory submissions, inspections, and compliance processes.
