Merchandise Purchaser (Wholesale/Retail Trade)

U Stars Pte Ltd is looking for a meticulous and driven Merchandise Purchaser to join our growing team. This role is crucial in ensuring a well-curated and competitively priced product assortment across our retail network. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, negotiation capabilities, and a good understanding of wholesale and retail trade dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers and merchandise across various product categories (fresh and dry goods).
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to optimize cost and value.
• Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and sales data to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Ensure stock levels are adequate to meet store demands while minimizing overstock and wastage.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, maintaining strong supplier relationships.
• Collaborate with internal departments (operations, merchandising, warehouse) to ensure alignment of purchasing activities with business goals.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and product data for reporting and analysis.
• Monitor competitor offerings and adjust purchasing strategy accordingly.
• Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, and industry events as required.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in retail or wholesale trade.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a plus (to liaise with Mandarin-speaking suppliers).
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
