My relatives and my family go to this restaurant for rather authentic Teochew cuisine.
Their Siew Mai is amazingly delicious, with water chestnut in it. Their prawn roll is also very succulent, and their pork jelly is an all-time hit with the elderly.
Their signature tofu is nicely done, and their garlic chicken is very tender and meaty. The only two "meh" dishes are the garlic fish slice (you can tell it's those frozen fish, and there's not much taste) and the signature mee sua. It just tastes like fried bee hoon and is overly salty.
The chai poh kway teow is very uniquely Teochew, and they did it really well! It's my all-time favorite. Their oyster omelette is very succulent and fresh too. The chili is great!
It's definitely a restaurant that the elderly would love. You get 15% off with UOB or Citi cards when you dine in!
The food is excellent. The service is way above excellent. The Seafood Crispy noodles have a lot of sauce, and the shrimp are huge and fresh. The chicken feet are succulent and tasty. The sweet and sour pork tastes 10/10, and the Teochew pork cold dish is yummy.
"Usually, the staff here are very friendly and helpful. However, today (10/31/24) I was served by an arrogant young man with unusual hair. From the start, he seemed high-strung and unpleasant! When I asked him a simple question, he answered in a sarcastic tone. The older ladies and the Chinese gentleman are very polite. People come here to have fun; please hire someone with basic courtesy."
Great experience for the price, and there's a great selection of songs. Even if a song isn't in the database, you can find it using the YouTube function.
"I had a fantastic time! The staff were friendly and very accommodating. There were numerous song choices, and you could even search on YouTube for any song you wanted. The room was simple but spacious, comfortably accommodating the three of us in the small room we booked. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!"
Terrible system. For the entire two hours, the microphone volume fluctuated between soft and loud. Worse, the speaker kept making a sharp siren noise; I'm unsure if the room was too small. We entered the room a few minutes after 9 pm because the staff was cleaning. However, our room ended 5 minutes before 11 pm. We could have sung another song if Teo Heng at Canberra hadn't shortchanged me and my girlfriend. Lousy system and bad service.
The old woman working at the counter gave us death stares and didn't want to let us in, apparently because we looked like gangsters. They told us to come at 8:15, so we waited outside and arrived at 8:15 since we didn't have a booking. However, they let in a couple who arrived later. Absolutely shameful!
