I was served by Jessica Yip a few times before and found her to be curt and unfriendly. She always had a long face. She offered no smiles, "please," or "thank you" when completing payment transactions. Her attitude was super terrible and horrible. 👎
Seriously, NTUC should send her for retraining or place her in a non-frontline position instead of letting her ruin customers’ buying experience and mood at the Canberra outlet.

The watermelon was not fresh. I bought it on the way home. When I tried to eat it, I noticed it had already turned sour, so I had to discard the whole piece.

Quite shocked to see the condition of this wrap during my visit on 11th May. It was extremely mouldy. The best before date was clearly stated as 3rd July. Would the department staff or branch manager please look into this seriously? Thank you.

Here's an edited version of the review, focusing on grammar and minor improvements while retaining the original meaning and sentiment:
"I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent experience I had at the self-checkout facility in your store.
While using the self-checkout, I encountered difficulties with the machine, particularly regarding the payment transaction. Unfortunately, I was not informed that removing items from the machine during payment could result in the transaction being locked. The staff who assisted with unlocking the machine did not provide clear instructions, leading to further issues.
I understand that using the self-checkout may require some familiarity, but it would be greatly beneficial for customers if explicit instructions or warnings were provided on the machine itself. Additionally, the staff's response was less than satisfactory, as they became rude and impatient without adequately explaining the situation.
I kindly request that NTUC Canberra Plaza considers retraining its staff to handle such situations with more patience and politeness. Furthermore, providing clearer instructions at the self-checkout machines can prevent misunderstandings and improve the overall customer experience.
I hope for a positive resolution and an enhanced shopping experience at NTUC Canberra Plaza."

Walked out, forgetting to take my receipt and bonus stamp receipt. Walked back in to retrieve it. No other customers were at the checkout I used earlier, but a staff member had just walked away from it and was putting a receipt in the waste paper basket. I “dug” it out (there were only 2 other receipts in the barely used basket), and the staff member said I was lucky she hadn't torn it up. The issue wasn’t whether it was torn or not; the issue was, where was the bonus stamp receipt that had been taken from the bottom of the purchase receipt?
Another experience over the past year:
I was queuing for the self-checkout counter; one other person was ahead of me. It was 10:28 PM, but 7 of the 8 self-checkout counters were already closed. As I was approaching the last one after the previous person was done, the staff member said it was already closed and that I had to go to the cashier counter, which had a queue building up. They always close down the self-checkout counters at 10:30 PM, and by that time, only one cashier counter is still open. Of course, I just put the item back and walked off, as it wasn’t the first time I had had a bad experience there.
Two other experiences involved being told the NETS machine was already closed at the cashier counter. Another time, my card was not working, although I used it every day and had used it at the same NTUC the day before; another staff member beside them also nodded, indicating it wasn't working. It was working, by the way, and I know how POS and NETS machines work. All three previous experiences regarding the POS/NETS being closed were with the same staff member and all occurred around 10:30 PM. What coincidences!
There was also a time I was looking at the Halal poultry section and found pork meat placed right there. I was there around 10:40 PM, and most of the chilled product lights were switched off or had blinds covering them. This just showed how the staff members simply switch the lights off and roll down the blinds without checking.
Of course, there were times when I had a good experience. For example, when I left a bag of groceries behind and was walking back, a staff member actually went out with my bag to pass it to me at the escalator.

I was annoyed by the same salesperson every time I pay through the self-checkout counters around 2-2:30 PM due to their 'Trust Card' activity. I politely rejected the offer the first few times, but she just pushed on. I know she's just doing her job, but I find her very demanding. For instance, when I told her, "I'm using my dad's NTUC app account, not mine," she went on to say, "You can create your own account." Even after I rejected her the third or fourth time, she still said, "But it's a great deal. Are you sure you don't want it?" Please do something about this, as it is ruining my experience and lowering my impression of this NTUC outlet.

I drop by at least once a week because their selection is pretty okay, meaning most necessities are available. Go earlier in the day if you want the freshest veggies and fruit. The staff at the self-checkout counters are friendly and extremely helpful.

I would like to complain about a rude staff member named Jessica at NTUC Canberra Plaza. Canberra residents, please be on the lookout for such rude or unacceptable behavior at NTUC Canberra Plaza.
The store was not crowded at all. I bought a drink and a packet of sweets. With just two items, I decided to use the self-checkout machine.
While I was making my way to the self-checkout machine, there was an NTUC staff member, Jessica, standing nearby and just staring blankly.
So I made my way to the machine and started scanning these two items. I was really trying to be self-sufficient and not disturb her, as she seemed unapproachable or unfriendly.
Only then did I realize the machine was for card payment only, and I wanted to make a cash payment. Since she was standing right next to the machine, she saw what happened as I decided to move to a cash payment machine.
I was so shocked to see her reaction. She made an unhappy sound and unhappily took my items. I kept quiet, knowing I had made a mistake.
She continued, making the unhappy sound again, and said in a rude tone, 'Next time, check first before queuing up!' I was stunned by her gesture.
Firstly, she is an ambassador of the self-checkout. She should assist customers in their checkout process, instead of scolding them. She was standing there daydreaming. It wasn't crowded at all, so why scold? I wasn't even jamming up the queue.
Secondly, she should have asked us in the first place if we were paying by cash or card, and directed us to the correct machine, instead of just standing there daydreaming again.
She angrily took my items and handed them over to the manual counter. I was still standing at the self-checkout machine. She came back and ignored me.
She never told or directed me to proceed to the manual counter for payment. I thought I had to go to the cash machine to scan my items.
Really rude and terrible service. If she is tired or unhappy for some reason, please don't work.
She never informed me about my items at the counter until I asked where they were. The manual counter girl had to call out, 'Ma'am, your item is here.'
I went over to the manual counter, proceeded with the payment, and asked the counter girl to redeem my points. She forgot, and I repeated it to her, and then she did. I never scolded her for her mistake, unlike what the aunty just did to me.
Is there a penalty point if she uses her card to void the transaction?

Here's the lightly edited review:
I buy cheap mineral water here. I eat at the canteen and drink the cheap water outside. Drinks in the canteen are overpriced. $1.70 for bottled water. $0.40 from Unfair Pricey. $1.30 can get an apple pie or a McDonald's ice cream.

Small outlets. Just four MRT stops down the line from AMK could bring you to a huge, decent Fairprice Xtra.
